Craig

Craig started racing pigeons in 1999 aged 12 in partnership with his brother Richard then aged 14.  In there first season racing the brothers became young bird average winners in there local club also topping the Dudley federation from 113 miles. After a successful first season racing inland the two brothers focused upon middle and long distance channel races where the they enjoyed further successes.  By the time Craig was 18 he and his brother had claimed 1st and 2nd Hens National Bergerac 553 miles, were one of only three lofts in the history of the MNFC to claim the Diploma of distinction with their Bergerac Hen (later sold to M&D Evans for £5,000) and also won a brand new motor vehicle with the Midland Continental Classic Flying Club in there first and only ever car race!  In recent years Craig has focused almost exclusively upon the extreme long-distance events where he has been 1st section 7th Open NFC Tarbes Grand National (660 miles) and in 2017 he an his family timed five birds with in 1 hour racing from 660 mies with all five finishing in the top 10 of there NFC section. Wonderful achievements from a young fancier racing to a small back garden loft!

After returning back to Cannock from University he set up the Kingsmead School Pigeon Project to help get children involved in the spot whilst he was there he continued to focus on Long Distance Racing and in 5 years he helped the students at Kingsmead to time in every season from 543. He now works for the Royal pigeon Racing Association as Development Officer and is building on his time at Kingsmead to grow the sport in the UK. Richard now has another racing loft in Rugeley and we are looking forward to seeing how our birds do there as-well.
